Blairgowrie Gateway to the Glens

Blairgowrie is a bustling, friendly town in East Perthshire, a great place to eat and shop and a gateway to a network of walking trails. with easy access to Perth and Dundee. Gateway to the Cairngorms National Park.

If Perthshire is Scotland’s larder, Blairgowrie is certainly a well-stocked cupboard, offering goodies from the farms nearby including strawberries and raspberries, fresh asparagus, new potatoes and homemade ice cream. Taking advantage of this local produce are the lovely cafés, restaurants, hotels and inns in the town.

Some of Perthshire’s finest bluebell woods can be found close to the town, and there are some beautiful, tranquil lochs just a stone’s throw from the main road, where you can see osprey, beavers, swans and other wildlife.

The famous Cateran Trail, a 64-mile circular walk taking in stunning scenery, starts in Blairgowrie. You can also gaze in wonder at Cargill’s Leap, a seemingly impossible gorge that, legend has it, was jumped by a local preacher on the run from the king’s men.

If you’re a golf fan, there are no fewer than nine courses within a few miles of Blairgowrie. And just down the road is the record-breaking Meikleour Beech Hedge, the highest in the world.
